Emo

So, alot of you have probably heard me mention the term "emo" and asked yourself "what the fuck is he talking about". Well its hard to explain exactly what emo is, but ill do my best to describe it. Do not be fooled tho. Emo is not just one thing, in fact it is many things, with many different sub catorgories. Lets start off by saying i am emo. There is a certain characteristic in which i dress that all other emo boys dress. The tight jeans, old school vans/nikes, denim jackets, spike belts, and vintage/thrift store shop clothes all relfect the styles of emo. There is preppy emo styles, and poor person looking emo styles but they all seem to fit under the same category of "emo". Emo is short for emotional. This style comes from the music generated by emotional lyrics and a distinct slow sound in a sharp key(for you intrumental people). Most emo deals with broken hearts, relationships gone bad, and missing your mom. The most probable reason i can think that attracted me to this sort of music is that i go thru shit like this on a daily basis. So of course the music emo, as does all other music genres (punk, hardcore, rock) reflected a new sort of subculture. The boys, usually very emotional, sensitive, anorexically skinny, and cool have copied the styles of the bands that make the music. Since most of them wear tight baseball shirts, or vintage type clothing, many people started emulating this style. I think emo fashion is some of the flashiest, and nicest clothing that you can find. One problem with being emo is that youre already recognized as a weak nerd by listening to the music. "Isnt that crap for whiner boys" or "why dont you go cry about it emo boy" are only some of the taunts you get from being "emo". Emo is not as threatening as, lets say, Marylon Manson, so the people listening to emo do not have a threatening image. But its all good tho, as in every clique a person who is a friend of emo is a friend to me, so its cool. Emo girls also have a distinct style. Most of them are again, anorexically skinny, wear thrift store clothes, and have short hair usually died some crazy color. I used to think emo people shopped at thrift stores because of the style, but now im starting to think its because they really cant afford expensive clothes lol. So thats basically emo.
