Music
Theres definetly a deeper reason for listening to music than just the music itself. To me, music represents emotions and feelings i cannot express in words, and that only my favorite bands can do it so perfectly and exact. A certain type of feeling is always emitted from a certain song. I find when i am pissed off, i listen to a song where the artist talks about himself being pissed off or where the lyrics can relate to how im feeling. Its weird. Same goes for being heartbroken. I tend to listen to songs dealing with relationships and so forth. Without music i do not know what i would do. I would not be able to display my emotions as well, because i would not have music doing it for me. Although people do listen to music just for the music. Take techno for example. Most techno songs do not have lyrics or maybe they have a few repeated verses. However, everyone listens to music for the same reseaon. Whether it is punk, hardcore, emo, hip hop, rock, techno, or polka, we all listen to music to get our minds off of everyday life and to get sucked into a world where we are free for just 4 minutes and 30 seconds. I listen to music anytime i get a chance. Walking to school, in the car, on my computer, in my room, music is around me constantly. And its a great feeling when you see the lyircs of a song and you can say "wow, this person is going through the same crap im going through." You start a following of them and you begin to have a favorite band. It happens to everyone. Even though i download a bunch of MP3s everyday, im looking forward to buying the new Saves The Day album. And probably the only reseaon for buying this album is for the lyrics and to have the cd. I think the lyrics are the most important part of a song way more important than the actual music itself. This whole Napster thing is complete bullshit. I look at it as if you were taping music off the radio. What? Are they gonna make taping off the radio illegal now too? In taping you get the song you want without having to but the cd. With Napster it is the same deal. And i dont understand why theyre even trying to shut them down. If Napster does indeed go down everyone will get together and say "lets go everyone, we're moving to Gnutella.com, thats our new home." Everyone will move there and thats it. They cant sue every free MP3 site. Its impossible. I dont know how they can win this because record sales have been up since Napster became popular. As much as i hate The Offspring, i like what they stand for. I have a new repsect for them even though they suck. Their new cd (dont know the name) was supposed to come out in record stores for completly FREE. This is a band that actually CARES for the music which is rare. Everyone now only cares about money. Oh Oh we're losing MONEY because of Napster. I disagree, theyre gonna lose money for GOING AGAINST Napster, because they will lose their fans. Offspring along with chuch d, dave mathews and others agree with exactly what im saying. So anyway, back to the free cd. It was supposed to come out free, but their greedy record company (SONY) wouldnt let that happen(Like they dont have enough money coming in from Playstaion 2, STILL ON BACKORDERS I MAY ADD!!!). I hope Napster lives on and if not go to Mp3.com, Gnutella.com, and Napigator.com. Have fun, love music and thats all . P'Z
